About us and our programme

The team here at Ngahina Kindergarten are caring, responsive, nurturing and inclusive in their interactions with children, showing particular concern for their emotional wellbeing.

We work hard to recognise the individuality of each child, supporting and guiding them in their endeavours. We are passionate about building relationships with our local community and encourage whanau to participate in their child’s education.

At Ngahina Kindergarten we offer whānau grouping so siblings can attend together and learn alongside each other. Whānau also have the opportunity to select the days they wish to attend. We are committed to supporting whanau to meet their needs around study, work and other obligations.

We have strong links to our neighbouring school, Kapiti Primary School. We join together for many activities, including kapa haka, cross country, dramatic and music performances, and enjoy regular visits to the new entrants’ classroom.

Our large grassed area is perfect for large group activities and games, such as soccer, running races, cricket, bike track, kite flying, rugby and hockey. We have an outdoor area specifically devoted to gardening, where the children engage in organic vegetable planting, compost making, fruit growing and harvesting.
